Regional Educational Guidance Service for Adults (REGSA) is delivering a presentation on the various Financial Supports available for anyone starting full time third-level or further education in September.

The event is taking place in the Central Library, Lady Lane, Waterford from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm on Wednesday, 25 May 2016.

The main items covered will be the Back to Education Allowance and Student Universal Support Ireland’s (SUSI) grants systems.

“The presentation will be of most interest to people applying to for a full-time third level undergraduate course or for someone applying for a PLC (Post Leaving Cert) course in a College of Further Education course,” says Peter Lucey, career guidance counsellor with REGSA.

The overview of SUSI will be of interest to school leavers and/or their parents. SUSI will be of interest to mature applicants who have not necessarily been on a social welfare payment but were not in employment (possibly caring for family or spouse working).

“Both SUSI grants and BTEA (Back to Education Allowance) are applicable to a lot of the clients we deal with at REGSA ie mature applicants who have been unemployed.”

The presentation will also talk about tax relief for part time undergraduate fees and postgraduate study.

REGSA is based on Waterford Institute of Technology’s College Street Campus. No registration is required for the event at the Central Library, Lady Lane, Waterford.

As a service REGSA welcomes adults who would like to like to make an appointment to consider their options around a return to education. Make an appointment for free guidance counselling through REGSA, which is based on WIT’s College Street Campus. Phone 051 302287. See www.regsa.org
