The Book of Kells makes a comeback!
Miriam O'Callaghan was on hand to help launch Boyne Valley's new creative art competition this week. One primary school, secondary school and a third level individual will have the chance to win a limited edition Book of Kells, worth an amazing €20,000.
Gillian Hennessy, Marketing Manager of Boyne Valley, comments: 'We ran a similar competition in the 80s, and had some great feedback, so in the spirit of nostalgia, we decided to run it again. We're sure the inspirations will be different almost 30 years on!'
The competition will continue for five months with a finalist from each level, each month. In February 2010, a grand finale will take place to crown the three winners.
'We wanted to give students something fun to do', continues Hennessy. 'Their drawings can be anything they feel inspired by - there are no set themes. It could be Book of Kells inspired or honey inspired, football inspired, cartoon inspired - anything that appeals!'
Students can text 11890 to get ideas and Facebook, Bebo and Flicker sites have been produced to allow entrants to log on, get tips, inspiration and to see the finalists' creations.
Entries must be accompanied by three Boyne Valley Honey tokens.
