NCI to improve support for disabled students

National College of Ireland has announced that O2 will sponsor disability support services at the college. The services will be headed-up by Stephen Kennedy whose role as Student Support Officer will be to guide, encourage and support students with disability in their journey through higher education.

National College of Ireland strives for an environment that encourages excellence, celebrates differences, supports success and fosters involvement.

Commenting, Dr. Paul Mooney, NCI President, said: 'a challenge for all third level institutions is to ensure that support is mainstreamed wherever possible and that students with disabilities have an equitable learning experience. Support from O2 will help us deliver on this vision, progressing to a more inclusive environment for students with disabilities. NCI is regarded as an innovator in the area of disability support and we are delighted to be associated with O2, an organisation with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.'

Also commenting, Jude Lynch, Chief Operating Officer – Telefonica O2 Ireland, said: 'partnering with National College of Ireland is a natural fit for O2. Embracing diversity is a hugely important part of how we do business, and through this initiative NCI will provide academic and personal support on an intensive one-to-one basis to students with disabilities to ensure they realise their full potential.'
