Our programmes are located in three Schools:
Business and Humanities, with programmes focusing on the world of business in the knowledge, media and entertainment sectors. Creative Technologies, with programmes that explore the interaction of people and technology. Creative Arts, offering programmes that blend creativity and technology in art, design and media – including the internationally recognised National Film School.
IADT offers a learning environment that caters for students as individuals. Small class groups and a project-oriented approach ensure a high level of learning support. We are committed to developing you as an individual, as an independent thinker who can think deeply and critically about the world and make a valuable contribution to it. We offer you opportunities across the traditional boundaries of practice, space for engineers to work with graphic designers, for business people and entrepreneurs to work with fine artists and psychologists, for poets to work with photographers and technologists. We are always reviewing our programmes to make sure that we keep pace with technology and new media and with the demands of industry and society. IADT is part of the European Erasmus exchange programme, offering you the opportunity to study part of your programme in a European institution. We currently have exchanges with universities and colleges in the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Finland, Estonia, Turkey, Hungary and Sweden. A comprehensive range of advice and support services (counselling, career guidance, assistive technology, writing and research, etc) are available to help you make the most of your time in IADT. IADT also has excellent library, computing, studio, sports facilities, and a wide range of clubs and societies to help you enjoy the social side of studying in Higher Education. IADT also offers extra-mural courses in the summer and autumn, including portfolio preparation courses (if you are thinking of applying to programmes in our School of Creative Arts), and a wide range of part-time certificates and postgraduate programmes. Dun Laoghaire is a town on the coast 7 miles (11km) south of Dublin. IADT is located on Kill Avenue, less than two miles from the centre of Dun Laoghaire. It can be easily reached by bus routes 46A, 75, 63, 45 and 7. The Luas (Sandyford and Ballyogan), linked to IADT by bus routes 46A, 75 and 63, and the M50, coming up to Shankill, are less than 2 miles from IADT.
